MPC Welcomes Rev. Michelle Bacon

Montgomery Presbyterian Church is pleased to welcome Rev. Michelle M. Bacon to our community!

Rev. Bacon was the Pastor Nominating Committee’s first choice out of nearly 100 candidates. She accepted MPC’s call on December 4, 2011. Prior to joining us, she served as Interim Pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church (Fairfield, OH), where she led the congregation in the programs focused on “Unity through Mission” and leadership development (“Strengths Finder Workshop”) to match leaders’ gifts and energy with specific congregational needs. This enabled leaders to serve effectively and to avoid leadership burnout. She also has extensive experience in Christian Education (children and youth), serving First Presbyterian Church (Glendale, Ohio) as Christian Educator, and Heritage Presbyterian Church as Interim Associate Pastor responsible for Christian Education and Pastoral Care. Rev. Bacon holds both Master of Divinity and Master of Education in Counseling degrees. She has church staff experience in Christian Education, Pastoral Care, and as a Hospital Chaplain.

Farewell from Rev. Dr. Watson

E-mail Print PDF

It is almost unbelievable that only a little over 3 years ago God called us to be partners in the work of the Kingdom of God. I can honestly say, and have said it too many others, Montgomery Presbyterian Church is a wonderful place to experience the joy, happiness, and challenges that await those who love God, who walk humbly with their God and work for God’s peace and justice in their community and the world.

In the calling of Rev. Michelle Bacon to be your installed pastor, you have shown courage, defied the expectations of some, stood resolute to the face of those who predicted Montgomery Presbyterian Church’s demise, and above all, never stopped listening to the Holy Spirit. What privilege it is to be the pastor of MPC! Some have asked me to suggest ways that the news about Rev. Bacon can be effectively shared with others. I would heartily suggest you say to others the same words Philip said to Nathaniel: “ Come and See”

On behalf of myself and my family, thank you for your wonderful support during my ministry. The “potluck chili lunch” was perfect and suits my desire to have a relaxed atmosphere in which to meet all of my friends. The “Tall Stacks” print is beautiful, very touching and perfect….and not just because it fits Mr. Bowen’s publicly stated desire for MPC”s gift be one that I could not hide in a closet. MPC will hold a treasured niche in my heart.

Blessings,

Rev. Dr. Daniel Watson

The Perfect Pastor ...

E-mail Print PDF

Someone has suggested that a perfect pastor is one who preaches exactly 15 minutes and then sits down.

The perfect pastor is 28 years old and has been preaching for 30 years.

The perfect pastor works from 8 AM to 10 PM every day in every kind of work, from preaching to pruning the shrubbery to custodial service.

The perfect pastor spends all their time with youth, visits 15 senior citizens a day, and is always in the office and available to chat when you call or stop by.

The perfect pastor delegates authority effectively and does all the things other people are too busy to do.

The perfect pastor is not attached to material things, wears good clothes, buys books to study regularly, has a nice family, drives a nice car, and has a nice, well-decorated home in a pleasant neighborhood where they regularly entertain members of the congregation, all on a minimal salary, half of which is donated back to the church.
